The company was started by Benjamin Wade in 1860 in Yorkshire
Focused mainly on classic English shapes & sizes in the early years, the pies were of a high standard without any defects or filler & were made to compete with the other pipe makers of that time
There factory was destroyed in WW2 by the Germans but was rebuilt & prodction continued, later to be sold to Herman Lane of New York at the same time as he took control of Charatan in 1962
